The Aeromixer is a submersible pump engineered for horticulture that integrates mixing and aeration in a single unit. Its core Patented Aerojet Technology draws ambient air through a dedicated hose and injects it directly into the pumped liquid stream.
Physical Construction and Specifications
The pump family consists of multiple models with different capacities. A 1/6 horsepower Mini Mixer model is designed for tanks from 15 to 80 gallons. A 3/4 horsepower Original model is designed for tanks from 50 to 500 gallons, with capability for up to 3,000 gallons. A Synthetic Pro Edition of the 3/4 HP model features upgraded seals and stainless steel internals for use with high-concentration synthetic nutrients. Key specifications are detailed in the following comparison.
All models operate on 115V/60Hz power, have an IPX8 submersible protection rating, and a maximum fluid temperature of 95°F. The standard package for all models includes the pump, Aerojet air hose, stabilized footing, mounting hardware, a garden hose adapter, a universal adapter, a nylon rope, and a manual.
Functional Mechanism and Design
The pump works by creating a venturi effect to draw atmospheric air into the water stream, generating turbulent, oxygenated flow. This dual-action mechanism prevents nutrient settlement in the reservoir, evenly distributes dissolved fertilizers, and helps stabilize the solution's pH level by facilitating gas exchange. The pump also functions as a transfer pump for feeding or moving liquids.
Target Applications and Performance
The product is designed for mixing and oxygenating liquid nutrients in horticultural and agricultural settings. The aeration function reduces the need for separate air stones or air pumps. The Synthetic Pro Edition is specifically rated for high concentrations of up to 2 pounds of synthetic fertilizer per gallon of water. The manufacturer states it is compatible with both organic and synthetic nutrients but recommends the specific Pro Edition model for heavy synthetic use.
Application Specifications and Protocol
The pump is installed with its handle facing upward and stabilizing feet against the tank wall. The included braided air hose must be routed out of the liquid with its intake above the waterline. For soft-walled tanks or reservoirs under 50 gallons, the manufacturer strongly recommends using an accessory controller to regulate pump power and prevent excessive turbulence. Controllers are not included with the pump.
Accessory Controllers
Two accessory controllers offer precise operation. The Aerobuddy Timer + Power Controller allows variable speed control from 2.0 to 6.2 amps and includes an interval timer with on durations up to 30 minutes and off durations up to 60 minutes. The Aerobrewer Temperature + Power Controller adds temperature regulation with a +/- 3°F variance, alongside the same variable speed control. Both controllers have a maximum input of 15 amps and are sold separately.
Handling and Safety
The pump must not be moved while plugged in and operating. It should always be lifted by the nylon rope or carry handle, never by the power cord. The Aeromixer pump is covered by a standard one-year warranty against manufacturing defects, with optional extended service plans available. The Aerobuddy controller has a one-year warranty, while the Aerobrewer comes with a 90-day warranty plus a one-year extended warranty.
