PVC Three-Piece Serviceable Slice Valves are an excellent option for Full Port flow and complete, secure shut-off. This classic version from our slice valve series is preferred by installers that desire a serviceable option. For most other installations, where a serviceable valve is not required and newer model options are appropriate, we generally recommend our PVC Uni-Body Slice Valve due to improvements in materials, seal, locking features, and more.

Q: When should I install a PVC Three-Piece Serviceable Slice Valve as opposed to a Compact Ball Valve?
A: PVC Three-Piece Serviceable Slice Valves should be installed when water or other fluids need to be shut-off completely or allowed to flow without restriction. This product offers FULL PORT, unrestricted flow while many other inline products do not. Additionally, this valve is very short in length relative to other valve options of the same size and therefore offers a smaller installation footprint for vaults or other tight enclosures. Ball Valves and Gate Valves have incremental settings, they are not necessarily fully open or fully shut, and there are gradations in-between that are often used to set flow. Butterfly Valves and other similar products do not offer the same Full Port flow offered by PVC Three-Piece Serviceable Slice Valves due to the inner wall used to shut-off the valve being located in the middle of the flow way.
This product is most commonly used within the Pool and Spa industry due to the need for complete shut-off and certain spatial restrictions.
