Details

Talon-G is a single-feed anticoagulant rodenticide formulated as a grain bait for the professional control of commensal rodents in and around structures.

Chemical Composition and Formulation
The active ingredient is Brodifacoum at 0.005%. The formulation is a whole-grain bait (corn, wheat, oats) dyed blue-green for identification. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) registration number is 100-1314.

Functional Mechanism and Design
Brodifacoum is a second-generation anticoagulant that inhibits vitamin K epoxide reductase, disrupting the blood-clotting process. This mode of action prevents the recycling of vitamin K, leading to uncontrolled internal bleeding and death after a single lethal dose. The grain bait is designed to be highly palatable to target rodents.

Target Applications and Performance
This product is labeled for the control of Norway rats (Rattus norvegicus), roof rats (Rattus rattus), and house mice (Mus musculus). It is intended for use in and around agricultural, commercial, industrial, and residential buildings, including food handling establishments. It is effective in bait stations for ongoing population control.

Application Specifications and Protocol
The product is applied in tamper-resistant bait stations. For rats, initial bait placement is 1 to 2 pounds per station. For mice, 1 to 2 ounces per placement is sufficient. Bait must be placed in locations where rodents are active, such as along walls, runways, or near burrows. All bait must be placed in stations that prevent access by children, pets, and non-target wildlife. A minimum number of bait placements are required per label.

Handling and Safety
This product bears the signal word "DANGER" and is toxic to humans, domestic animals, and non-target wildlife. It is a restricted-use pesticide. Applicators must wear chemical-resistant gloves when handling bait. All bait must be placed in secured, tamper-resistant stations. Dead rodents must be collected and disposed of promptly to prevent secondary poisoning of scavengers. The product must not be used in sewers, and its use is prohibited in certain states (e.g., California).
