Chemical Composition and Formulation
The active ingredient is Novaluron at a concentration of 10.3%. The product is formulated as a suspension concentrate (SC).
Functional Mechanism and Design
Novaluron is a chitin synthesis inhibitor that disrupts the molting process of insect larvae. It is an insect growth regulator (IGR) classified under Insecticide Resistance Action Committee (IRAC) Group 15.
Target Applications and Performance
This product is labeled for use on agricultural food and feed crops including fruiting vegetables, cucurbits, brassica leafy vegetables, tuberous and corm vegetables, pome fruit, and cotton, as well as non-food ornamental crops. It is effective against the larval stages of whiteflies, leafminers, aphids, thrips, caterpillars such as armyworms and loopers, and Colorado potato beetle larvae.
Application Specifications and Protocol
The product is applied as a foliar spray. Application rates vary by crop and pest. For many vegetable crops, the rate is 8 to 12 fluid ounces per acre. For tree fruits, the rate is 12 to 16 fluid ounces per acre. Applications should be timed to target early larval stages. A non-ionic surfactant is recommended. The product can be applied through ground or aerial equipment.
Handling and Safety
The product bears the signal word "CAUTION". The restricted entry interval (REI) is 12 hours for most uses, except greenhouse ornamentals which have a 24-hour REI.
