REDROCK WOOL LAUNCHES NEW FIBER & WEAVE FOR HORTICULTURAL GRADE GROW BLOCKS
REDROCK WOOL LAUNCHES NEW FIBER & WEAVE FOR HORTICULTURAL GRADE GROW BLOCKS
Los Angeles, CA Jan.10th, 2025 (MORR) – RedRock Stonewool is an innovative provider of plugs, blocks, and slabs for controlled environment agriculture and greenhouse crop production. Beginning in December 2024, all RedRock Blocks will come with completely new stonewool material that boasts vastly improved consistency, a new wetting agent, and an improved vertically oriented fiber weave.
- RedRock launches new vertical orientation fiber with new wetting agent
- Reduce rooting time between plug and block
- Higher air porosity allows more oxygen into the root zone and improved drainage
Please find information on their new material below:
DESCRIPTION
RedRock Blocks are innovative stonewool propagation cubes with a vertically oriented fiber structure. Their lower density reduces resistance during rooting, while promoting rapid root development from the plug into the cube.
APPLICATION
RedRock Blocks are ideal for growing a variety of vegetable crops in controlled environment agriculture.
GUARANTEE
Using RedRock stonewool guarantees the lifespan of one crop under normal conditions in high-tech greenhouses. RedRock stonewool is produced under certification from the Dutch trade association RHP, which ensures quality manufacturing for plant reproduction substrate. The KIWA certification agency oversees this program.
WHY CHOOSE REDROCK?
- Faster rooting from plug to block
- Balanced water holding and drainage properties specific to crop production
- Designed for crop steering

CHARACTERISTICS OF REDROCK BLOCKS
- ●●●○ Reactivity: Control speed and controllability of the cube
- ●●●○ Refreshment: Rate of refreshment for water, nutrients, and oxygen
- ●●●● Re-saturation: Ease of re-saturation with water
- ●●●● Rooting to Substrate Slab: Speed at which the plant roots to the slab
- ●●●○ Firmness: Mechanical stability
RedRock Blocks are significantly easier to re-saturate than other brands of stonewool.

PACKAGING AND STORAGE
RedRock Blocks are delivered in standard packaging on pallets measuring 48-Inch x 40-Incch (1200mmm x 1000mm). Alternative pallet sizes are available upon request.
Each pallet features a label containing essential information, including the production order number, item number, product description, and product characteristics.
The pallets should be stored indoors in their original packaging, in a dry location away from direct sunlight. Products must be used within two years of the delivery date. Pallets should be stacked no more than four high, and it is crucial to follow safety guidelines for stacking pallets. Additionally, take care to prevent damage to the packaging material.
USER INSTRUCTIONS
INITIAL WETTING
Fully saturate the cubes with water during this phase. You can do this in three ways: on the production line before sowing or transplanting, with an ebb and flood system, or using overhead sprinklers.
HANDLING
Carefully lower and separate the cubes as needed. RedRock Blocks can be moved at least twice. Make sure the grooves underneath are aligned perpendicular to the gutter leading to the water source. Aim for a moisture content level between 50% and 90% of the volume.
ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH, AND SAFETY CONCERNS
ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS: RECYCLING
RedRock places a strong emphasis on recycling raw materials, both at our production facilities and at growers’ locations after use. Recycled stonewool can be repurposed, for example, in brick production. For more information on recycling your stonewool, contact your RedRock representative.
HEALTH CONCERNS
If you come into direct contact with stonewool substrate, we recommend wearing gloves. In poorly ventilated areas, use a face mask. Always wash your hands before and after handling stonewool. Start by rinsing your hands with water to remove dust, then wash with soap. If irritation occurs in the eyes or mouth, rinse with clean water and consult a doctor if necessary. RedRock stonewool is classified as ‘mineral wool’ and is produced in certified EUCEB factories, ensuring compliance with Note Q of Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
SAFETY
We can provide the General Safety Information Sheet for Stonewool (Safe Use Information Sheet – SUIS) upon request.
CERTIFICATION
All RedRock production and manufacturing sites in Europe are certified to ISO 9001 and 14001 standards. Additionally, RedRock Blocks are included in the RHP certification MOD550 stonewool substrate.
