Why Use RedRock Stonewool Products?
RedRock Grow Blocks are a popular hydroponic substrate called stonewool that offers many key benefits that are required to make soilless gardening more profitable and easier. Rockwool is known for its extreme moisture retention properties, as well as, great aeration of the roots which is important for root systems to obtain proper levels of oxygen. This material is a man-made mineral fiber that has been melted, stretched, and spun into blocks of various sizes. The mineral fiber material is compacted and shaped into a slab or smaller cubes. A benefit is that they break apart easily and can often be used right from the seedling stage all the way through all stages of a plants life cycle. This material is a convenient choice for commercial growers due to its ability to break apart easily to adjust for sizes, but still maintain all properties for proper plant growth. Red Rock Grow Blocks have the ability to withstand all environmental stressors and maintain all physical properties throughout the entire growing season. Throughout the growing cycle, a commercial grower can rest assured that this substrate won't degrade and break down over time. All these benefits are important to consider when choosing rockwool as a growing medium. This substrate is reliable and convenient as a growing medium to use consistently from propagation to harvest in all commercial growing applications.

Using RedRock Grow Blocks
Within the commercial horticulture industry, innovation and sustainability are one of the top components and strategies for successful commercial operations. It is important for a grower to understand the proper steps to ensure their stonewool blocks are installed and maintained properly for excellent crop growth and yields. After purchasing the correct sizing needed specific for crops, the pH levels may need to be adjusted to lessen the stress on plants. Rockwool can sometimes, depending on materials and process of manufacture, be slightly on the “base” side so the use of a pH Down is recommended to neutralize the substrate. Research should be completed to see the specific needs of a plant for nutrients, pH, and spacing of overall plants. Depending on the size of grow block purchased, plants can be individually planted in a cube or planted with others in the same cube. Watering of your crops in rockwool is the same procedure for other soilless growing mediums. Research should be completed to see the plants specific needs before applying plant nutrient solutions to the crop through the hydroponic or aquaponic system. When plant roots are visible at the bottom of the cube, the crop may need to be transplanted into larger rockwool cubes.
