Chester Boone’s Horticultural Pesticide
Chester Boone’s Horticultural Pesticide
FOR THE FRUGAL FARMER, A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY.
Chester Boone’s Horticultural Pesticide removes pests and contaminants, improves hygiene and raises crop value. Spray Chester Boone’s ALL PURPOSE regularly from cutting or seedling through vegetative stage and even up to the day of harvest if desired. Make sure ventilation and fans are sufficient to dry plants post spray. Fifteen to twenty minutes wet is ideal.
SPIDER MITES & HEMP RUSSET MITES
Spider mites generally live on the undersides of leaves where they puncture plant cells to feed. Hemp-russet mites prefer crotches. To eliminate spider or russet mites, spray 1-fluid ounce of Chester Boone’s PURE per gallon of water, concentrating on spraying under leaves, the vertical stem, the branch crotches and the petiole (leaf stem).
Repeat spray 1-fluid ounce of Chester Boone’s PURE per gallon of water, wait three days and then follow up three times a week with the labelled rate (2-fluid ounces) of Chester Boone’s ALL PURPOSE per gallon of water to maintain hygiene. Chester Boone’s ALL PURPOSE will prevent further mite events if used regularly as directed.
FUNGUS GNATS
Fungus gnat larva may readily be controlled by adding Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis larvicide (BTI) to the irrigation water. BTI will interrupt their life cycle. Follow label directions. Adult fungus gnats look very similar to adult root aphids, and both will startle into flight if disturbed. We like Aquabac WDG3000 Aquabac WDG3000 - 43% Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies israelensis or Aquabac FG Aquabac FG - 8% Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies israelensis Strain BMP 144.
Any adult flyers of either species will be controlled by contact with Chester Boone’s ALL PURPOSE mixed at the label rate (2-fluid ounces per gallon of water). Always follow label directions and test prior to spraying for detrimental effects on the crop such as phytotoxicity.
THRIPS
Greenhouse thrip hatchlings congregate openly on the undersides of lower leaves.
Thrip populations multiply quickly and are challenging to kill. It is important to move quickly before the size of the vector multiplies.
Spray the labelled rate (2-fluid ounces) of Chester Boones ALL PURPOSE per gallon of water under and over lower leaves, stem and crotches.
APHIDS
Aphids are highly mobile and can seem to be everywhere.
Utilize Chester Boone’s PURE to gain control and follow-up with ALL PURPOSE.
Wherever aphids are, if you wet them with 1-fluid ounce of Chester Boone’s PURE per gallon of water, they will die.
Maintain elevated greenhouse, floor, and room hygiene.
Apply the labelled rate (2-fluid ounces per gallon) of Chester Boone’s All Purpose three times a week to maintain hygiene.
It is better to spray preventatively than to become lax and allow pest pressure to build within a cultivation facility.
ROOT APHIDS
Like all aphids, adult female root aphids give birth to live juvenile pregnant aphids in addition to laying eggs. Their population can explode rapidly. Although they live most of their life in the soil, adult root aphids lay eggs on lower foliage and branches. Spray 1-fluid ounce of Chester Boone’s PURE per gallon of water, paying close attention to under leaves, in crotches and main stem.
Repeat spray Chester Boone’s PURE three days later, wait three days and then follow up three times a week with the labelled rate (2-fluid ounces) of Chester Boone’s All Purpose per gallon of water to maintain hygiene. Consider using the larvicide Beauveria bassiana BioCeres Biological Mycoinsecticides early in the crop cycle for another layer of control.
