When faced with creating an integrated pest management plan, a grower is given a wide range of choices and brands. It is essential to the success of an operation, that the right methods are selected and used. A grower needs to figure out strategies that align to their budgets, goals, and type of operation. The biggest question is whether a grower should go organic or conventional. This decision will determine whether a grower will use organic means of pest and disease control or chemical means. There are many pros and cons to both. However, many growers are making the decision to go organic for not only the benefits to the environment, but also a boost in profitability and marketability.Â

Applying Chester Boone's Insecticide and Fungicides
It is important to apply this formula according to package directions for ultimate control of pests and disease. The solution should be mixed to 1-2 oz per gallon of water. The water should not contain other ingredients such as chlorine or treated water if it can be helped. Distilled, rain, or soft water is preferred. The solution can be placed in a sprayer for even and controlled application of the solution. Careful attention should be given to the undersides of leaves and stem areas as this is where pests like to stay. It should be noted that the solution should not be applied in direct sun or on overly warm days. In fact, it is suggested that these solutions be applied during early morning and evenings. After application, a grower will need to check for pests and then reapply if any are in sight after three days. When first applying, a grower should do a spot test to ensure that the plants can tolerate the solution.Â
