Vitalroot is a liquid fertilizer formulated to improve root vigor in seedlings, transplants, and established crops. It is intended to supplement standard fertility programs as a readily available source of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and microelements. The product has a density of 10.68 lb/gal (1.28 kg/L) at 68°F and is available in 1.32 gallon (5 liter) and 0.26 gallon (1 liter) containers.
Chemical Composition and Formulation
The product is a dark brown liquid with a characteristic odor. It has a pH of 5.5 to 6.5 at 2% dilution. The formulation contains boric acid (0.1-5.5%) and zinc sulfate heptahydrate (0.25-1%) as hazardous components. The product is classified under EU Regulation No 1272/2008 as Aquatic Chronic 3: harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects. Boric acid is classified as Repr. 1B, H360FD (may damage fertility and the unborn child). Zinc sulfate heptahydrate is classified as Acute Tox. 4, H302 (harmful if swallowed), Eye Dam. 1, H318 (causes serious eye damage), and Aquatic Acute 1 / Aquatic Chronic 1, H400/H410 (very toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects).
Application Specifications
Vegetables (Spray Application): 0.1 to 0.15 gallons per acre using a backpack sprayer, applied weekly with thorough wetting beyond the dropping point.
Vegetables (Root Application): Nursery application at 0.5 gallons per acre. Post-transplant application at 0.9 to 1.2 gallons per acre, applied as 3 to 4 applications per cycle at a rate of 0.3 to 0.4 gallons per acre per application.
Citrus and Fruit Trees (Root Application): During the first and second year after planting, apply 0.8 to 1.0 gallons per acre split into 2 to 3 applications during the growing season. From the third year onward, perform 1 to 2 maintenance applications at a rate of 1.0 gallon per acre.
Vineyard: For new plantings, apply 0.8 to 1.0 gallons per 1,000 plants as a 1% solution, applied to the neck or incorporated into irrigation, 30 to 40 days after establishment.
Target Crops
All kinds of plants, especially seedlings and transplants of all vegetable types. Also labeled for citrus, fruit trees, vegetables, and grapes.
Use Restrictions
Vitalroot is recommended only for use on citrus, fruit trees, vegetables, and grapes. Use on any other crop or at any timing not listed on the label may result in serious crop injury. Application of fertilizing materials containing molybdenum may result in forage crops containing levels of molybdenum toxic to ruminant animals.
Storage and Handling
Store between 5°C and 35°C (41°F to 95°F). Avoid low temperatures in winter and temperatures above 28°C (82.4°F). Avoid direct light and long storage periods. Store in a dry, well-ventilated place away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Keep away from oxidizing agents and highly acidic or alkaline materials. Containers must be kept closed and placed vertically when not in use.
Safety and First Aid
If inhaled, move victim to open air; keep warm and calm. If breathing is irregular or stops, perform artificial respiration. For eye contact, remove contact lenses and wash eyes with clean, cool water for at least 10 minutes while holding eyelids open. For skin contact, remove contaminated clothing and wash vigorously with water and soap. Do not use solvents or thinners. If swallowed, seek immediate medical attention; do not induce vomiting.
Environmental Precautions
The product is dangerous to the environment. Do not allow contamination of drains, surface water, groundwater, or sewers. In case of large spills into lakes, rivers, or sewers, notify responsible authorities according to local legislation. Pick up spills with non-combustible absorbent materials (soil, sand, vermiculite, diatomite) and place in appropriate containers.
Firefighting Measures
Flash point above 60°C (140°F). Recommended extinguishing media include powder, CO₂, alcohol-resistant foam, and water spray. Do not use a direct stream of water. Thermal decomposition can produce carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide.
