Details

Magister® SC is a foliar miticide for the control of mite pests in a broad range of fruit, nut, and vegetable crops.

Chemical Composition and Formulation
The active ingredient is fenazaquin. It belongs to the quinazoline chemical class. The product is formulated as a suspension concentrate (SC). The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) registration number is 10163-322.

Functional Mechanism and Design
Fenazaquin is a mitochondrial electron transport inhibitor (METI), specifically a complex I inhibitor. It provides both contact and ingestion activity against mite eggs, immatures, and adults. Knockdown of mites can be observed within 24 hours of application.

Target Applications and Performance
This miticide is labeled for use on a wide variety of crops including but not limited to pome fruits (apple, pear), stone fruits (peach, cherry), nuts (almond, walnut), berries (strawberry, blueberry, caneberries), grapes, citrus, vegetables (cucurbits, tomato, pepper), and hops. It is active against spider mites (Tetranychidae), broad mites (Tarsonemidae), flat mites (Tenuipalpidae), and eriophyid mites. It is noted for being soft on beneficial insects.

Application Specifications and Protocol
The product is applied as a foliar spray. Specific application rates and use instructions must be obtained from the official EPA-approved product label and any applicable state-specific 2(ee) recommendations or 24(c) registrations. The product has a 12-hour restricted entry interval (REI) and a 7-day pre-harvest interval (PHI) for most labeled crops.

Handling and Safety
All handling, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, storage, and disposal instructions are mandated by the EPA-approved product label. Users must always read and follow all label directions.
