Details
PEST-KOTE is a multi-purpose insecticide concentrate formulated with patented 3D-IPNS Application Technology. It is a contact spray that works only through direct application onto listed pests. The product is labeled for indoor and outdoor use on ornamental plants, landscape ornamentals, fruits, flowers, and as a premise spray. It is approved for use up to the day before harvest.
Chemical Composition and Formulation
PEST-KOTE contains a Group 3A insecticide and is formulated as a 96% organosilicone product. The 3D-IPNS technology is designed to increase contact between insects and the insecticide by helping to keep insects within the treated zone. The formulation improves the coverage and contact of other insecticides when used as a tank mix. The product requires buffering to a pH range of 5.0 to 7.5 after dilution.
Functional Mechanism
The product operates strictly as a contact spray, killing only through direct application onto target pests. The organosilicone-based formulation enhances spray coverage and adhesion. The 3D-IPNS technology modifies the treated zone to prolong insect exposure to the active ingredient.
Target Applications and Performance
PEST-KOTE controls a broad spectrum of over 100 listed pests on ornamentals, fruits, and flowers. It is suitable for residential and commercial use. The product may be used in combination with other insecticides and acaricides, particularly in resistance management programs. It is compatible with commonly used nutritional products, herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, and plant growth regulators.
Application Specifications and Protocol
Restricted Entry Interval (REI): 12 hours. Do not enter or allow worker entry into treated areas during this period.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Early Entry:
-
Coveralls
-
Chemical-resistant gloves made of any waterproof material
-
Shoes plus socks
-
Protective eyewear (goggles, face shield, or safety glasses). After dilution, goggles, face shield, or safety glasses are not required.
Water pH Requirement: Buffer water to a pH range of 5.0 to 7.5 before mixing.
Mixing Procedure (with agitation):
-
Fill spray tank half full with water and begin agitation.
-
If foaming is expected, add a silicone-based antifoam agent.
-
If tank mixing, add other pesticides or foliar nutrients according to their respective labels, maintaining agitation.
-
Continue filling with water until the tank is approximately 90% full.
-
Add the required amount of PEST-KOTE and mix thoroughly.
-
Add remaining water to reach 100% full.
Application Equipment and Methods:
-
Compressed Air / Hydraulic Sprayers: Apply as a coarse, wet spray at specified dilution rates. For crack and crevice applications, place the applicator tip at or into the target area and apply at a rate of one second per foot. Limit dripping and runoff.
-
Hose-End Sprayers: Dilute according to specific directions. Shake sprayer to fully mix the product.
-
Low-Volume Sprayers (backpack, turbine, orchard, mist blowers): Direct nozzle(s) into the plant canopy for good penetration and coverage. Maintain appropriate distance to avoid blast damage. The operator should ensure that all air within the canopy is replaced by air from the blower.
Tank Mix Instructions
PEST-KOTE is compatible with most commonly used nutritionals, herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, and plant growth regulators. It is the user's responsibility to ensure all products in the tank mix are registered for the intended use. Users must follow the most restrictive directions for use and precautionary statements of each product in the mixture. The user or application advisor must have experience with the combination or conduct a phytotoxicity trial before widespread use.
Resistance Management
PEST-KOTE contains a Group 3A insecticide. To delay resistance:
-
Avoid consecutive use of PEST-KOTE and other Group 3A insecticides with the same target site on the same insect species.
-
Use tank mixtures or premixes with insecticides from a different target site action group.
-
Base insecticide use on a comprehensive IPM program.
-
Monitor treated insect populations for loss of field efficacy.
The product may be combined with other insecticides and acaricides where resistance is a problem.
Use Restrictions and Compatibility
The product is a contact spray only; it has no systemic activity and will not control pests that are not directly hit with the spray solution. Always read the entire Directions for Use before use. This product must be used in accordance with the Worker Protection Standard (40 CFR Part 170) for agricultural uses. This specimen label is intended as a general guide; always follow the label instructions on the package before using.
