Details

AGFORCE is a plant-based total insect concentrate formulated with essential oils as its primary active ingredients. It is designed for use on food crops, ornamentals, fruits, and vegetables in both greenhouse and field settings. The product is made in the US, has no pre-harvest interval, and carries no re-entry restrictions.

Chemical Composition and Formulation
The formulation is an essential oil concentrate derived from natural sources. It is designed to be mixed with water as an emulsifiable concentrate. The concentrate must be shaken well before mixing. The product has low environmental persistence and leaves no residual activity after drying.

Functional Mechanism
AGFORCE employs a dual mode of action requiring direct contact with target insects for best efficacy.

  • Physical Mechanism: The formulation dissolves the insect's cuticle, leading to desiccation and death.

  • Biological Mechanism: The active ingredients disrupt the insect's nervous system.

The combination of two distinct modes of action is intended to help prevent the development of resistance in insect populations.

Target Applications and Performance
This product controls a range of soft-bodied insects including mites, aphids, thrips, whiteflies, plant bugs, fruit flies, and caterpillars. It is labeled for use on ornamental, fruit, and vegetable crops and can be used up to the day of harvest due to the absence of a pre-harvest interval.

When used as directed and after the spray has dried, the product is reported to be safe for beneficial insects due to its quick drying time and lack of persistent residues. Direct application onto beneficial insects, particularly smaller species, may cause mortality.

Application Specifications and Protocol
AGFORCE is applied as a foliar spray using a pump or powered sprayer equipped with a fan-shaped, medium spray tip.

Mixing Ratios

  • Foliar Spray: Dilute at a rate of 0.5% to 2.0% volume concentrate by volume of water (v/v). For most insects, a rate of 0.5% to 1.0% is effective. Higher rates are recommended for large or difficult-to-control insects.

    • Example: For a 100-gallon tank, mix 0.5 to 2.0 gallons of product.

  • Dip Application: Dilute at 0.5% v/v. The equivalent rate is 19 ml of product per gallon of water. Prepare only enough dipping solution for one day of use.

Application Technique

  • Apply until leaf wetness, ensuring thorough coverage of both the upper and lower sides of leaves.

  • Apply during cooler hours when low humidity is forecast, and ensure plants dry within one hour after application.

  • Do not apply during rainy or windy conditions, or to plants stressed by drought.

  • Use the spray mixture within one day of preparation.

Application Schedule
Reapply every 5 to 7 days, or as spot treatments when insects reappear.

Use Restrictions and Compatibility
Use caution when applying to open blooms, particularly those known to be sensitive to sprays. The product requires direct contact with the insect for efficacy, as it has no residual activity. Always read the entire label prior to use. Testing on a small group of plants is recommended to confirm crop safety, as variations in climate, host variety, and environmental pressures may affect plant response.
